As Burnley was awash with Claret and Blue celebrating the annual College Clarets Takeover at Turf Moor, the team stepped up and triumphed against Brentford.
It’s the third year in a row the Clarets have won the match following the celebration which sees Burnley College and the Premiership team join forces.
Last year the Clarets smashed Huddersfield 4-0. The previous year they beat Wolves 1-0.
This year saw the team take on Brentford and walk away 2-1 victors.
The match was the highlight of the amazing activities taking place in the stadium on the day, from live music and face painting to giveaways and more. And the now legendary free College Clarets scarves giveaway saw Harry Potts Way awash with claret.
Behind the scenes there was plenty going on to with a team of Burnley College A Level and Advanced Vocational students taking part in work shadowing throughout the stadium.
Karen Buchanan, Principal of Burnley College, said it was an incredible day:
The smiles on the faces of the crowds reflects what an amazing day it was! It is a testament to what can be achieved when two of the biggest names in Burnley – Burnley Football Club and Burnley College – join forces.
– Karen Buchanan, Principal of Burnley College
“Burnley College really is at the heart of the community in Burnley. It’s great to spread some cheer on a Saturday afternoon, as well as for our outstanding students to experience what it’s like to work for a top football club.
“And our role as a bringer of good luck to Turf Moor continues. Three victories in three years. Here’s to a fourth in 2025!”
