Village Pharmacy are based in Briercliffe, Burnley. They are looking to recruit a Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant apprentice.
A Pharmacy Services Assistant will be involved in supporting the supply, preparation and assembly of medicines and products; issuing them to patients and other healthcare professionals and assisting in providing advice to patients to help them to make effective use of their medicines. They will be responsible for ordering and receiving medicines, as well as their storage, disposal and return. They will have an understanding of healthy lifestyle choices and relevant screening services. They will understand and work to standard operating procedures (SOPs), a set of step-by-step instructions compiled by their organisation to help staff carry out routine operations. SOPs aim to achieve efficiency, quality output and uniformity of performance, while reducing miscommunication and failure to comply with pharmacy regulations.
The successful candidate will undertake the Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship.

Customer Service:
Greeting and assisting customers: Welcoming customers, answering queries, and providing advice on over-the-counter medications.
Processing prescriptions: Receiving and processing prescriptions, checking for accuracy, and inputting data into the computer system.
Dispensing medications: Preparing and dispensing medications under the supervision of a pharmacist, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
Providing health information: Offering information and advice on various health topics, such as common ailments, medication usage, and lifestyle changes.
Administrative Tasks:
Stock management: Maintaining adequate stock levels, reordering supplies, and organising the pharmacy inventory.
Record keeping: Keeping accurate records of prescriptions, sales, and stock levels.
Cash handling: Handling cash and card payments, ensuring accurate transactions.
Data entry: Input patient information, prescription details, and other relevant data into the pharmacy computer system.
Additional responsibilities:
Delivering medications: Delivering medications to patients, including home deliveries if required.
Supporting the pharmacy team: Assisting the pharmacist and other staff members with various tasks, such as cleaning, organising, and preparing medication packs.
Adhering to regulations: Complying with all relevant pharmacy regulations and guidelines, including data protection and confidentiality.
Monday to Friday – shifts TBC on appointment. Shifts will potentially cover busy periods, sometimes the apprentice will work until 6pm. Saturday shifts may be available.
