Themis Apprentices Gallop Towards Success in Equine Industry

When you think of Finance and Digital Marketing do you think of endless commutes, boring city office blocks and concreate views? Here at Themis, we think differently.

At Themis at Burnley College, our vision is to provide exceptional work-based learning in a huge variety of locations and source the very best employers for our apprentices.

When HAPPA – Horse & Pony Protection Association, a charity which specialises in equine rescue, approached us to say they were looking for enthusiastic and ambitious individuals to join their team, we knew we could provide them with the very best Themis Apprentices.

El Cutler, Digital Marketing Apprentice, is embracing her new role and has already been working on the HAPPA website’s SEO, Search Engine Optimisation, the technique of structuring your website so it appears as high as possible when people google certain terms.

She is also looking after their social media accounts and has been tasked with increasing engagement on Tik Tok.

Rachael Slater started on the yard at HAPPA five years ago. She enjoyed the role but due to family commitments knew she had to find something with more suitable hours. Having considered A Levels beforehand she thought accountancy would be the right direction for her.

She’s now starting her Level 2 Accountancy Apprenticeship with Themis.

Rachael said:

“I knew I needed to change my work commitments, but I really didn’t want to leave HAPPA.
“This Apprenticeship opportunity has allowed me to stay within the company that I love.”

Tanya Bunkham, Finance Manager at HAPPA, is proud to have five Apprentices in the company:

“We have found this a far better approach to team expansion than hiring industry trained professionals.
“In business we can easily get stuck doing things in the same way and never think to look in different directions.
“Apprentices bring fresh ideas to the team and open new ways of thinking.”

HAPPA is passionate to be able to give learners an opportunity to develop and is also keen to develop their existing team. With Themis Apprentices onboard, the team can explore their leadership skills by training people and watching them grow in their new roles.
