Graduates processed through the streets of Burnley to celebrate their great achievements. Our inspirational Graduates of Burnley College University Courses were given key advice by dignitaries and peers at the ceremony.
Dean of BCUC, Nina Parkin, led our Learners through town on two open-top buses. Arriving at luxury Hotel & Spa, Crow Wood, where they entered Graduands and left Graduates.
Guest speaker, Rob Hallam – Managing Director of the industry-leading, Burnley College collaborators, Bigtank Video Productions – gave brilliant advice at the ceremony. Rob spoke of Rob Mumford, his first ever member of staff, who stills work for him to this day. Mumford expressed his desire to learn and take opportunities through his persistency, directness and ambition which made him stand out to Rob Hallam. In this story, Rob conveys the importance of individuality and how to catch an employer’s eye. Rob delivered a great in encouragement to our Graduates.
“My key piece of advice is never forgetting that it is you who will make the difference in your career; not a CV listing your brilliant qualifications, amazing hobbies, countless awards and trophies for various activities, but you as an individual.”
Nick Vercoe, who read a Degree in Policing Studies with Criminal Investigation at BCUC, also delivered a passionate speech to the Graduates, speaking about how Tutors and family have been an integral part of his progression and thanks them.
“Join me in thanking the staff at Burnley college for sharing their knowledge, time and wisdom. A special thank you also to the loved ones you have here with you today. Without their support in the background, it would be impossible to achieve what you have accomplished.”
Vercoe achieved a 2:1, when he graduated in 2023.
