Students plan for the future at Burnley College Careers Week

Planning for the future and looking ahead was the theme as our Burnley College Sixth Form Centre Students took steps towards their future success at our Careers Week.

The annual event saw a Careers Marketplace with leading companies from throughout Lancashire offering guidance for students searching for a career in their industry.

Our National Careers Week activities provide focus at a crucial point in Student’s lives, supporting them to develop awareness and excitement about their future paths.

Throughout the week our Student Services team hosted workshops for CV writing, job application advice and interview techniques which empowered Students with the skills and knowledge they need to explore their desired career path.

We welcomed guest speakers including:

  • The Armed Forces who led practical sessions on teamwork, communication and confidence skills and an Army Expedition Presentation
  • Teeside University who gave a masterclass in how to make your personal statement stand out from the crowd
  • Top engineering firms and employers including BAE Systems, KPMG, Fort Vale Engineering, East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce
  • Edge Hill University who led an interactive ‘pitch perfect’ workshop for Students to identify and understand their own skills
  • Burnley College experts Alex Gill and the IT Team who ran sessions on using Linked In to grow your professional connections and AI in the workplace.

At Burnley College we pride ourselves on creating exciting extra-curricular opportunities for all of our learners which will help them shape their futures.
