You Are Honoured

Due to our amazing success in 2024, we have decided to expand our Honours and STEM Societies to EVERYONE.

With 97% of our Students being accepted by their first choice of University, Burnley College has decided to give every Student the same level of support offered to members of the Honours Society:

Complete an Extended Project Qualification alongside their A Level
This full qualification boosts your CV, making your University application stand out from the rest, as well as enhancing your academic skills.
Individualised support throughout the UCAS application process
Our mission is to ensure every Student who wants to progress to the highest levels of education is given the skills and knowledge to achieve their academic dream.
Bespoke support for all Oxbridge candidates
You’ll get regular meetings with Tutors with specialist experience in the field.

Achieved A*AAC in A Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Psychology and English Language. Now studying Mathematics at Durham University

Rebecca Spooner, 18, from Todmorden, a former Student at Todmorden High School achieved A* in Physics, A* in Further Mathematics, A* in Mathematics and a Distinction* in Music Technology. Rebecca Spooner is planning on taking a gap year to focus on music.

Take the Lead

There are many opportunities for students to play a full and active role in contributing to the future success of Burnley College by taking on key roles and responsibilities. It’s a great way to learn new skills, build your self confidence and meet other students, as well as helping to boost your application to university or employment. With all the roles available, you will receive full training and be supported to make a difference to the College community. 

Student Governors
Enhance the Student experience and influence decision-making in this high-level position. As a Student Governor you will be focussed, articulate, confident and reliable, utilising these attributes to work closely with governors and senior managers to influence the future of learning in Burnley whether that is developing additional student activities and programmes; investing in learning spaces or even feeding back the opinions of the student body. It’s an unmissable opportunity to enhance your CV; gain invaluable knowledge and skills about management and really make a difference.
Student Ambassadors
These are the link between our Students and the public, partners within the community and potential students. You can also get involved in academic mentoring at schools, marketing projects, enrichment activities and volunteering, health and wellbeing support and health and safety. It’s a vital role with a high degree of responsibility, and the ideal opportunity to improve your communication and networking skills, which is why it will be impressive on your application to university or your CV.
Student Representatives
There are Student Representatives selected in each division and class to give feedback to Tutors and managers on teaching; activities they have enjoyed or would like to see and suggestions for additional learning resources. It is one of the key platforms for the Student Voice, a vitally important part of our College.

Our annual Freshers’ Fair is a fun-filled welcome to College. Enjoy free food and treats; discover more about the clubs, societies and student roles that make up College life; enjoy funfair rides and all the entertainment we can fit in, including haircuts – all for free! Meet new friends; discover more about College life and try out new activities.
