Exceptional Burnley College Sixth Form Centre students who achieved outstanding results in their chosen A Level, T Level and Vocational subjects have been honoured at the annual Awards for Excellence ceremony.
The students celebrated their outstanding accomplishments with family, friends, tutors and special guests who gathered at the glittering event hosted on the College’s £115 million campus.
The results have cemented Burnley College’s position as the Number 1 College in England since 2018*.
A Level results in 2024:
- 100% pass rate in all 39 subjects
- 32% of students achieved at least one A*-A
- 70% of students achieved at least one A*-B
- 92% of students achieved at least one A*-C.
Plus:
- 100% T Level Pass Rate in Health, Healthcare Science, Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction
- 99.7% Pass Rate for Advanced Vocational Courses.
And, 97% of our Burnley College Sixth Form Centre Students achieved results that meant they would be accepted by their first choice of University, including Ethan Smith, a former student at Blessed Trinity RC College, who achieved A*s in A Level Computer Science, Further Mathematics, Physics and Mathematics and is reading Computer Science at the University of Cambridge.
On the evening, two A Level students also received the annual Stocks Massey Bequest, which offers financial support to learners from the Burnley area who are progressing to university. This year’s recipients are Olivia Phillips is reading Film Production at the University of Salford and Eshan Bilal is reading Medicine at the University of St Andrews.
Burnley College Sixth Form Centre A Level Alumna and previous Award for Excellence winner Maisy Vasic was guest speaker at the event. Maisy completed her studies here in 2021 and progressed to the University of Oxford to read Geography. She has now graduated with a First-Class Honours Degree and has started a PhD at Coventry University.
Also addressing her peers was Burnley College Student Governor Abigail Geary.
Students from our Creative Arts and Media Division wowed the audience with several numbers including a performance of Celine Dion’s “I’m Alive” by Eloise Whittle and a vibrant 80s themed dance medley.
Guests of honour included Mayor of Burnley Coun. Shah Hussain, Mayor of Pendle Coun. Mohammad Aslam, Lancashire County Council Cabinet Member for Education and Skills Jayne Rear and, from the Stocks Massey Bequest Fund, Cosima Towneley and Paul Halstead.
