About the course
Mathematics is the tool we use to solve many of our practical problems. In A Level Mathematics, you will learn many new algebraic techniques, then use these to model data and make predictions. Mathematicians play a key role in government strategy, analysing data and statistics. Build upon the skills you learnt at GCSE and expand your analytical and problem-solving skills including geometry, sequences, algorithm, integration and statistics.

Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at Grade 5 or above which includes: English, Grade 6 in Mathematics

Assessment
Throughout the course, we will assess you using formal examinations and mini-tests. AS Mathematics consists of two externally-examined papers at the end of Year 1: one paper on Pure Mathematics worth 62.5% of the qualification and one paper on Statistics and Mechanics worth 37.5%. A Level Mathematics consists of three externally-examined papers at the end of Year 2. These are of equal size and weighting: two papers on Pure Mathematics and one paper on Statistics and Mechanics. Calculators are required for all examinations.
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this course, most students progress onto Degree courses in a range of disciplines. You may instead decide to progress onto an Apprenticeship or a Higher/Degree Apprenticeship. Careers that this course may lead to include Teaching, Engineering, Accountancy and Finance and Banking.

Enrichment Activities
There are plenty of activities and visits to take part in.
Each year Students take part in the National Maths Challenge and hear from a
variety of guest speakers. Past residentials have also included trips to New
York!
