About the course
Level 2
An accounts or finance assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within an organisation.
The accounts or finance assistant is responsible for assisting accountants with routine duties. These can vary depending on the team structure and size of business. They use digital finance and accounting systems and tools to collate and enter data. An accounts or finance assistant’s work would include tasks such as financial and accounting data entry and basic bookkeeping duties. They will also work with sales or purchase ledgers. They will run calculations to ensure that records and payments are correct and may be involved in the recording of cash transactions.

Level 3
An assistant accountant supports internal and external customers in the administration of their financial and accounting activities. They work as an assistant accountant in a practice or alternatively within the finance function or an organisation. An assistant accountant helps in the operation of day-to-day financial activities.

- Business awareness
- Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements
- Management Accounting Techniques
- Tax Processes for Businesses
Level 4
The role of a Professional accounting technician will have responsibility for creating, and/or verifying and reviewing, accurate and timely financial information within the organisation in which they are employed or on behalf of another organisation.
Course content covers:
- Applied Management Accounting
- Drafting and Interpretating Financial Statements
- Internal Accounting Systems and Controls
- Two optional units (these can vary)

Entry Requirements
A minimum of 5 GSCEs at grade 4 and above with a grade 6 in Maths.

Assessment
You will be assessed on programme through exams that are externally marked by AAT with a 70% pass rate. To successfully achieve the full apprenticeship you will need to pass end point assessment consisting of a knowledge test and interview based on a showcase portfolio.
