About the course
This course has been developed to provide electricians with the skills and knowledge required to install small scale photovoltaic (PV) systems. The course has been structured to meet the requirements of the National Occupational Standards and is recognised as a demonstration of competence for the Micro-generation Certification Scheme (MCS).This programme is a requirement of the Minimum Technical Competency document for PV (Photovoltaic ) installers and is recognised by MCS operators as evidence of suitable training.
Candidates attending the course must hold a formal technical qualification as outlined below.
N/SVQ 3 in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures) or equivalent earlier certification that includes Inspection & Testing or a recognised Part P competence certification that includes Inspection & Testing. Trainees must also hold a BS 7671: 2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition) qualification.
Trainees can enrol for the course if they meet the requirements of the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) and have a minimum 2 years’ experience with demonstrable evidence as well as being a member of a Competent Person Scheme (CPS)
Assessment
Assessments will consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations, carried out within the training period.
