About the course
The course covers the design process from the design brief, design development, CAD and the manufacturing stages of prototype production. Study on this programme develops your knowledge of supervision within the furniture industry and the skills to produce high quality furniture. Additionally, the course lends itself to those wishing to develop the skills and knowledge to progress into the manufacture of bespoke furniture.

Entry Requirements
Successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Furniture Making with a Merit profile and GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or above.
Assessment
Assessment for this course is in the format of written portfolio work and practical piece.
Careers & Progression
Progression includes HNC/HND in Furniture Design and Make or Apprenticeship Standards in Furniture Making. Careers include CNC Programmer, CAD Technician, Bespoke Designer of Furniture, Cabinet Maker and Upholsterer.

Enrichment Activities
The division is focused on links with the community and community projects, offering the opportunity for work experience for full-time learners. All areas regularly host and compete in regional and national skills competitions with SkillBuild. Other examples include: employer-sponsored 'Job of the Term' awards, construction site visits, entry into national trade skills competitions, excursions to national trade exhibitions, voluntary building work, visits to buildings of architectural significance. Work place opportunities.
