About the course
Advanced Mechanical Engineering - This qualification is aimed at learners preparing for technical and professional roles within the mechanic engineering discipline e.g. Mechatronics maintenance engineer, Mechanical engineer, Aeronautical engineer, Robotics engineer, Fluid Dynamics engineer, Nuclear Engineer.
You will study: Engineering and environmental health & safety, Mechanical engineering principles, Engineering mathematics, Further engineering mathematics; Computer aided design, Engineering Communications, Maintenance of mechanical systems; Advanced manufacturing techniques.
You will study: Engineering and environmental health & safety, Electrical and electronic principles, Further electrical and electronic principles, Engineering mathematics, Further engineering mathematics; Computer aided design, Programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Analogue and digital electronics, Engineering Communications.
On completion of this pathway will enable progression onto a HNC/HND or to an Apprenticeship in this sector.
Advanced Fabrication and Welding Technologies - This qualification has been developed to raise the learner’s skill level and
enhance their underpinning knowledge to progress from basic welding and
fabrication skills to a more highly developed understanding of equipment
functions and how materials behave when subjected to fabrication and welding
processes. The course has been developed in conjunction with industry
experts and includes the latest fabrication and welding techniques, materials,
processes and practices. Each are
assessed in line with industry demands with career prospects as a MIG welder, TIG Welder, Plate Work Engineer, Fabrication Engineer, Quality Inspector, Nuclear Fabrication, Aerospace Fabrication and Pipeline Engineer (Oil rigs).
You will study: Engineering and Environmental health & safety, Fabrication and Welding Principles, Engineering Mathematics, Further engineering mathematics; Computer Aided Design (CAD); Pattern development, Metal inert gas, Metal active gas (MIG/MAG) welding, Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding process, Producing sheet metal fabrications, Engineering communications, Producing plate fabrications.
On completion of this pathway will enable progression onto a HNC/HND or to an Apprenticeship in this sector.

Entry Requirements
At least five GCSEs at Grade 5 or above in a good range of
subjects including GCSE English, Mathematics and Science or a relevant Level 2
