About the course

This course is aimed at people considering a career in health and social, health and science or the early years and education sector.  Studying this course will develop knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in these sectors and the roles played by workers, from the principles and values through to health and safety and working with others. There is also a option to take units in more specialist areas such as learning disability , sensory loss or mental health, along with the building of skills and behaviours to prepare for working in the sector.

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which include : written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams or setting up an information board

This course provides a starting point for deciding your career within the care sector. You can progress on to other level 2 specialist pathways such as level 2 Health and Social Care, health and science or Early Years and education to support your career choice on completion of the Level 1 course.

These enrichment sessions will allow you to develop skills for the sector in fun and engaging sessions which are organised to bring learning to life and support your development and progression.
