About the course

Gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to work in early years. This programme will engage and support you on your journey, providing you with knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to seven years with applied knowledge in the early years. This, along with industry experience in early years settings and primary schools offers the foundations of a career in early childhood.

Entry Requirements

Three GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and Mathematics or a relevant Level 1 qualification.
This course is subject to a cleared enhanced DBS check. 

Assessment

The course is assessed through internally and externally assessed coursework over varied themes. This will include case studies, information booklets, essays and discussion based exercises. Your practical performance will also be assessed on a regular basis in your early years’ settings. You will be required to carry out a work placement of at least 250 hours which Burnley College will organise.

Careers & Progression

You can progress onto a Level 3 qualification such as the T Level in Early Years Education and Childcare or an Apprenticeship.
