About the course

This course develops wood machining, cabinet making and upholstery skills through individual de-sign development projects with assessment via coursework. The course allows progression to a Level 3 programme with a specialised interest in one discipline. The course covers all aspects of furniture making and design to include: cabinet making; modern upholstery; traditional upholstery; design development drawing with ideas and sketches; design development ideas in cabinet making or upholstery; basic frame-making skills used in modern day production.
