About the course
This course runs on various evenings, Monday-Thursday, you are able to select the evening to suit your schedule.
The Level 1 Award in Welding is an introductory course that will teach you the skills you need for employment in the welding sector. You can choose from Manual Metal Arc (MMA), Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) or Metal Inert Gas (MIG) giving you the insight you need to begin a career in industry. The course allows you to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the welding sector. All sessions are practical workshop sessions, although you will be expected to carry out reading and internet research to answer the oral questions at the end of the course.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this level of study.
Assessment
You will be required to complete five practical assignments of welding joints in simple positions (horizontal) and one oral knowledge test.
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this course you may progress to the Level 2 Award in Welding Skills qualification. You will also have the opportunity to progress to the Level 3 Advanced Welding courses. Careers that this course may lead to include welding, fabrication, steel work and civil engineering.
