About the course
This advanced course is designed to develop and refine performing arts skills in acting, musical theatre and dance, supporting the development of performance confidence and building performance experience.

Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at Grade 5 or above including English and
Mathematics or a relevant Level 2 qualification.
Modules
Year 1 of your course will consist of two core modules. Module A Performing Arts Skills Development which includes: Exploring Performance Styles; Creating Performance Material and Performing for an Audience. Module F: The Performing Arts Industry; Planning a Career in the Industry. Year 2 of your course will consist of two further core modules. Module G Personal Performing Arts Profile: Using Development Plans to Refine Skills; Producing a Personal Project; Using Material for Self-promotion and Networking. Module H Collaborative Performing Arts Project: Undertaking a Defined Creative or Administrative Role; Using Creative Collaboration to Develop a Project; Producing a Collaborative Project.
Assessment
The content of your assessment will be outlined on an assignment brief; the design of these will be explained during induction. For every assessment there will be a clear deadline by which the work must be submitted to your assessor (course tutor). Your assessed work will be a mixture of both practical work aligned with an academic underpinning. Assessment work will take the form of practical and theoretical coursework. Evidence required may include the following: practical classes, workshops, rehearsals and performances, reflective milestone logs and extended pieces of writing underpinned by research. You may also be expected to produce presentations and google sites, edited video footage and voice recordings. This will be assessed internally by your tutor and verified by the awarding body.
Careers & Progression
Continue your studies to prestigious and accredited drama
schools such as Italia Conti, Urdang and The Hammond studying subjects like
Acting, Musical Theatre, Theatre and Performance And Media. Or move straight
into employment in this exciting and diverse industry.
Additional Details
Equipment Needed
Black practical attire is required for your classes. You will also be expected to purchase jazz shoes and/or character shoes. It is expected that all students purchase one company t-shirt at £10.
Equipment Supplied
You will have access to industry standard performance and rehearsal spaces. The department also provides access to high-spec video cameras, changing facilities, ballet barres, acro equipment and PCs/laptops for theory lessons.
Enrichment Activities
Trips include an overnight London Theatre visit with two
West End shows and a professional workshop, visits to professional theatre
productions across the North West, practical workshops with industry
professionals, involvement in community theatre projects and a three night stay
in London to attend ‘Move It!’ one of the world’s biggest dance conventions.
International trips to New York and Los Angeles.
