About the course
Develop the skills needed to plan and produce
film, photography and text prints in this practical, project-based course with
no exams. You will have the opportunity to develop your practical production
skills and gain experience in the planning and research which takes place in
pre-production. Develop the camera skills needed for photography and film and
the editing and evaluation skills needed in post-production. Your work for this
course will include the development of a portfolio of work which logs your progress,
reflects your research and evaluates the skills you have developed.

Entry Requirements
Three GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and
Mathematics or a relevant Level 1 qualification.
Modules
Module Unit A1: Skills Development - This unit helps learners develop skills in photography, video, editing and graphic design. Module Unit A2: Creative Project - This unit helps learners develop their ideas from interpretation of a set brief from a client to fulfilling the clients requirements using skills and creativity appropriate to the brief. Module B1: Personal Development - This module allows learners to gain a broad understanding of opportunities within the creative media sector and the type of skills needed to work in particular roles allows you to contextualise and focus you own creative development. This module allows you to investigate roles in the sector, identify areas for personal skills development and advance your skills relating to your personal aims and interests. Module C1: Responding to a Creative Brief: This module allows learners to apply the skills they have learned throughout the programme and progress their creative skills through the development and production of an extended response to a creative brief. Learners will do this by investigating all aspects of the brief, proposing ideas and plans and applying an ongoing process of creative development, review and refinement to realise their creative intentions and present finished outcomes.
Assessment
The course is 100% coursework with no exams, this allows for much more time and delivery on practical work and all aspects of the production process for completing a brief, from initial interpretation to research, ideas building and production of the work. Learner receive ongoing formative feedback throughout their projects as well as summative feedback at the end of each unit. Each module has equally weighted assessment criteria: 1. Investigation 2. Communication 3. Practical Skills 4. Development 5. Approach
Careers & Progression
You may choose to progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma
in Creative Digital Media.

Equipment Needed
All equipment is provided by the college however, having a camera is advantageous during this course.
Equipment Supplied
The college has two Media Studios which can both be used for photography and filming. We have cameras, tripods and microphones that can be used on location along with other lighting accessories and props.
Enrichment Activities
You will be encouraged to develop your own media skills by
filming or shooting photographs outside the College environment, with many of
our Students having their own YouTube channels.
