About the course
This course provides you with the opportunity to further enhance
both their practical and theoretical skills gained in previous academic years.
You will gain practical skills in woodworking projects including:
- Staircase construction
- Manufacturing complex joinery pieces
- Timber window frame construction
- Architraves and door casings
- Skirting
- Door installation
- Fitting door hardware.

Entry Requirements
Three GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and
Mathematics or a relevant Level 1 qualification.
Assessment
Students will be assessed on a range of practical skills with a practical end test. Additionally, students will sit a range of modular assessments, linked to each of the practical and theoretical elements of the programme.
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this course you may progress to
an Apprenticeship in a trade related area or to other courses that are
available include L3 Furniture Making, Multi Trades Skills and HNC/D level
programmes in Wood Crafts. Careers that this course may lead to include
self-employed bench carpenter and joiner, cabinet maker, furniture design and
development or could lead to a career in furniture manufacturing.

Equipment Needed
You will be required to have your own Personal Protective Equipment while working in the workshop areas
Enrichment Activities
As part of the course, you will take part in a number of
enrichment activities such as trips and visits.
