Evie Ross, 17, Burnley, a former student at Sir John Thursby Community College, is studying her T Level in Education and Childcare.

Evie has always wanted to work with children and young people as she is fascinated “by the wide variety of ways they learn.” She wasn’t initially planning on studying T Levels, however, the mixture of academic and hands-on work really appealed to her.

Her placement at St Peter’s Primary School has been key to her success: “I feel I’ve really been able to contribute to the workplace and team with my ability to handle diverse behavioural challenges.”

Evie has impressed everyone at her placement, including EYFS Leader Miss Franklin who says “I could not ask for a better student. I couldn’t be happier that she gets to continue with us next year. She is a true asset to our team.”

Evie success goes beyond Burnley College and St Peter’s too as she was announced as a finalist in the prestigious T Level Student of the Year category as the National Apprenticeship Awards 2024.
