Proud staff and students at Burnley College are celebrating their success after winning the Construction and Cyber Security categories at the Lancashire Skills Competitions.
Lancashire’s most talented young people took part in the second annual event this March.
They were competing against other students from colleges and sixth forms from throughout Lancashire to showcase their skills to both the judges and the wealth of employers who attended.
Burnley College Students overcame tough competition after facing more than 300 Construction and Digital students.
The Cyber Security strand of the competition was proudly hosted on Burnley College’s cutting-edge campus, showcasing its state-of-the-art facilities in our Security Operations Centre (SOC).
Burnley College has led the way in Cyber Security education, making a pioneering investment in the high-tech suite of computers and screens which allow learners to immerse themselves in life-like simulations of cyber-attacks.
The investments were made as part of the Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology (IOT).
The Construction sector was hosted at Preston College, where our dedicated learners tested their industry-ready skills by plastering walls, designing recycling schemes, developing software and recording marketing videos.
Our Students, Isabelle Whittaker and Jayden Sears, were also awarded ‘Medallions of Excellence’ by the judges who felt their contributions allowed them to stand out from the crowd.
The Lancashire Skills Competition is sponsored by the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub and NOCN Group.
