In an impressive showcase of collaboration and partnership within the sports and fitness sector, Burnley College has been honoured with the Outstanding Collaboration Award at the 2024 Red Rose Awards.
The accolade is testament to the College’s strategic alliances with prominent organisations including England Lacrosse, Burnley FC, British Cycling and British Rowing and other key players across the UK, forged through its specialist sport and fitness arm Fitness Evolution.
The Red Rose Awards is an annual event, organised by Lancashire Business View, that stands as a beacon of excellence, recognising outstanding achievements across various industries in Lancashire and this year took place in the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
Central to Fitness Evolution’s success are its partnerships with national governing bodies and elite sports clubs which nurture talent and lay down a roadmap for the future of sport in the UK.
Karen Buchanan, Principal of Burnley College, says she’s incredibly proud of the award and the spirit of collaboration which secured its success:
“Collaboration is at the very heart of what Burnley College is about.
“We are thrilled to receive the Outstanding Collaboration Award, which recognises our commitment to working with national leaders in the world of sport to make Lancashire the base of sporting excellence in the UK.
“I want to thank everyone who has made this possible, from the team at Fitness Evolution, their learners and the multiple national bodies who chose to give us their time and expertise to share.”
– Karen Buchanan, Principal, Burnley College
Head of Sport and Fitness at Burnley College and Manager of Fitness Evolution Ash Alderson was at the ceremony to receive the award. He says:
“We are rapidly establishing Burnley College as a national centre of sport and fitness excellence that will serve as the cornerstone for the holistic development of the nation’s future Olympians and sports professionals.
“We can only do this by forging the strongest of partnerships with national governing bodies and leaders within the sports and fitness industries, so it is rewarding to see our hard work recognised at the Red Rose Awards.
“This is only the beginning for us: we are determined to go from strength to strength to give every young athlete from across the region the opportunity to be the very best, to Build Futures and Change Lives.”
